SOMMER operators with new switched-mode power supplies
Starting May 9, 2025, the new EU regulation 2023/826 on energy efficiency will come into effect. From this date onward, manufacturers may only place products on the market that meet the requirements and do not exceed the specified limits.
SOMMER is taking action and is fully converting all its operators to modern switched-mode power supplies – compliant, sustainable, and user-friendly.
What does this mean for you as a dealer?
Legal Compliance
Our products meet the new requirements: standby power consumption = 0.5 W.
Compatible and easy to install
Switched-mode power supplies are precisely tailored to our drives – the housing remains unchanged, and handling remains familiar.
Technologically advantageous
Thanks to stable voltage, an ideal and reliable safety shutdown is ensured.
Overview of Changes
- New PCB color and new article numbers. The new PCBs are blue; previously, they were green.
- No mixing possible: old and new components cannot be combined.
- Clearance of existing stock: products produced before May 2025 with transformers may still be sold.
- Installation manuals will be updated. The new manuals are expected to be available by the end of April. Older manuals will remain available, clearly marked, in the archive.
- Accessories: The 0.5 W standby limit applies to the operators without accessories. When accessories are connected, exceeding the 0.5 W limit is permitted.
Important Dates
- Calendar Week 20 (May 2025): Delivery start for the new garage door operator models. Swing gate operators and sliding gate operators will follow shortly after.
- From May 1, 2025, an additional page will be available on the website www.sommer.eu, listing the new article numbers for basic products, showing which old article numbers are being replaced.
Spare Parts Supply Notice
Spare parts for existing models will remain available for at least 10 years.
