When SOMMER Automation & Radio (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was founded in 2005, it started with a small team and a clear goal: to bring reliable, high-quality German technology to the Chinese market.
Twenty years later, the company has become an integral part of the global SOMMER network, providing advanced solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial doors across Asia.
Key Milestones (2005–2025)
Since its establishment in 2005, SOMMER China has steadily evolved into a key member of the SOMMER Group. What began as a small production line for Aperto garage door openers and component sourcing for the Group laid the foundation for an impressive development journey.
In 2013, a major milestone was reached with the relocation to a new facility. The production area expanded from 1,800 m² to 5,400 m², significantly increasing capacity and efficiency.
SOMMER China introduced the SOMMER GIGA industrial door openers to the Asian market in 2014, marking the company’s entry into the field of industrial door systems.
In 2015, the launch of the premium GROKE copper entrance door series marked SOMMER China’s expansion into the high-end segment. Notable projects include the Hongting Project in Beijing with over 400 doors and the Parkland Project in Guangzhou with more than 120 doors (as of 2025).
To further strengthen manufacturing capabilities, a roll forming machine was added in 2016, increasing both production depth and flexibility.This strategic investment enhanced the ability to meet growing market demands with greater precision.
Another key step followed in 2019 with the introduction of high-end garage doors based on the DOCO Home System. This product line was successfully implemented in projects for Qingdao Haier Group and Nanjing Qixia Group, further strengthening SOMMER China’s presence in the premium market.
