The rugged barriers from SOMMER protect entrances, employee and hotel parking, car parks and underground garages against unauthorised access or exit. Their intelligent control unit offers a wide range of connection options for safety accessories.
We offer automatic barriers made from aluminium or steel as well as booms with and without LED lighting for private and commercial applications.

Safety due to obstacle detection
The operating forces of the barriers are certified to EN 12453. The automatic obstacle detection provides additional safety. The boom opens automatically if an obstacle is encountered; this ensures that vehicles will not be trapped.
Emergency release in the event of power failure
In the event of a power failure, the mechanical emergency release can be activated to open or close the barrier. Alternatively, emergency operation via a battery pack is possible.
Intelligent control technology
In addition, features and parameters can be configured via smartphone, tablet or laptop with the SOMlink S2 service interface for specialist retailers.
One control unit, a wide range of connection options
The range of functions of the barriers can be expanded as required with a wide range of connection options and accessories.
Pluggable, colour-coded connecting terminals allow convenient and reliable connection (cannot be interchanged). Photocells and other safety devices are automatically recognised by the control unit. LEDs on the inputs and outputs display the connection statuses visually.

Secure encryption
The future-proof SOMloq2 radio control system offers maximum data protection against hackers thanks to 128-bit AES encryption with rolling code.
Repeating radio signal
The auto-repeat function ensures convenient opening while approaching the building. The output radio signal repeats in a certain cycle to permit optimal availability.
High radio range
An innovative hop function extends the range, as radio signals are forwarded from SOMloq2 receivers.
Also for existing SOMMER products
Transmitters with the SOMloq2 radio control system are backward compatible with the Somloq Rollingcode radio system, making it possible to control existing barriers, operators and radio receivers.
Ready for a smart access control system
The Somweb Smart Home solution allows you to control the barrier very simply via app or browser from a smartphone, tablet or PC. The SOMweb can be integrated into Apple HomeKit and supports voice control via Siri and Google Assistant. The SOMweb can also be controlled with Amazon Alexa via IFTTT.

Additional equipment
The modular system structure makes it possible to expand the barriers with countless accessories. All accessories are easy to install, as the slots are colour-coded and exactly labelled.
HomeLink radio receiver module
With the HomeLink radio receiver, the operator can be upgraded to the HomeLink radio control system. The operator can then be controlled with a HomeLink transmitter integrated in the vehicle.
Battery pack
In the event of a power failure, the battery pack supplies energy to the gate operator for up to 12 hours with a maximum of 10 gate cycles (OPEN/CLOSE). The battery pack is automatically recharged during normal operation.

Buzzer
Alarm or warning buzzer that outputs an acoustic signal reporting a break-in attempt or during the closing process.
Memo
Expands the memory of the handheld transmitter to 450 handheld transmitter commands. Allows the use of the Codemaster S2 transmitter management.
Output OC
Open collector output for transmission of a static signal for display of the opening status to Smart Home systems or for activation of additional LED lighting with 24 V.
Relay

With optional accessories, the intelligent barriers can be controlled from a smartphone, tablet or PC. In order to operate the barriers via Smart Home, you need the SOMweb Smart Home solution.
Barriers can only be operated with a connected photocell.
With the optional HomeLink radio receiver module, the barriers are compatible with HomeLink.
In addition to the induction loop, you need an induction loop detector. The induction loop is connected to the induction loop detector. The potential-free output of the induction loop detector is connected to terminal block Induc. 1 (object protection) or Induc. 2 (to open the barrier).

If the boom 500 LED is to light up permanently red or green, it can be connected directly to the 12 V terminal block of the barrier control system. No further equipment is required.
If you want to realise a traffic-light function with the boom, you will need the optionally available Relay (see additional equipment).
The traffic-light function ensures that the boom lights up red as long as the barrier is closed, so that there is no authorisation for drive-through. The LED lighting also lights up during opening and closing of the barrier.
When the barrier is fully open, the optionally available Relay switches the lighting to green, signalling that a vehicle can now drive through.
The optional ‘Relay’ is required for a traffic-light function.
You need to ensure that the potential of the two barriers does not overlap. To do this, an isolating relay must be provided on-site.
No, the effective opening width of the boom is the boom length minus 30 cm.
A floating support or support post is required from a boom length of 4 m.
The installation and operating manual contains details of faults which may occur on the barrier system, their causes and how to remedy them.
Where can I find the Reset button?
You will find the Reset button on the top left of the control unit, below the word STATUS. The Reset button is marked in red in the diagram.
Resetting the safety devices
Press the green Reset button for 1 second.

Deleting the force values
Press the green Reset button for 5 seconds until the green status LED blinks slowly.
